Beehiiv’s pricing page hides the price behind a slider. Move it and every number changes.
Short answer: beehiiv is free up to 2,500 subscribers. Paid plans start at $49 a month and climb with your list size. Below is the full price table, what each plan unlocks, and where the money goes across the five places a creator funnel leaks.

Beehiiv Pricing at a Glance
Beehiiv has three self-serve plans: Launch (free, up to 2,500 subscribers), Scale (from $49 a month), and Max (from $109 a month), per beehiiv.com/pricing as of September 2026. Scale and Max prices rise with list size, reaching $329 and $459 a month at 100,000 subscribers. Above that, Enterprise is quote-only.
| Tool and plan | Price | Key feature | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Beehiiv Launch | $0, up to 2,500 subscribers | Unlimited sends, custom domain, subscribe forms | Building a free list |
| Beehiiv Scale | From $49/month ($43/month billed annually) | Paid subscriptions at a 0% take rate, automations, referral program | Creators ready to charge readers |
| Beehiiv Max | From $109/month ($96/month billed annually) | No beehiiv branding, 10 publications, unlimited team seats | Small teams and white-label brands |
| Beehiiv Enterprise | Custom quote, for 100K+ subscribers | Dedicated IP address, account manager, SSO | Large publishers |
Pricing per beehiiv.com/pricing, checked September 2026. “From” prices are for 1,000 subscribers.
One caution when you read that table. Scale and Max prices are set by list size, so a “from” price is a floor, not a quote. The next section shows what your list size actually costs.
How Much Does Beehiiv Cost as Your List Grows?
Beehiiv Scale costs $49 a month at 1,000 subscribers and $329 at 100,000 on monthly billing. Max costs $109 to $459 across the same range. Annual billing is cheaper at every list size, by roughly 12% on beehiiv’s published prices.
| Subscribers | Scale, monthly billing | Scale, annual (per month) | Max, monthly billing | Max, annual (per month) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1,000 | $49 | $43 | $109 | $96 |
| 2,500 | $69 | $61 | $149 | $131 |
| 5,000 | $89 | $78 | $169 | $149 |
| 10,000 | $109 | $96 | $219 | $193 |
| 25,000 | $169 | $149 | $289 | $254 |
| 50,000 | $249 | $219 | $379 | $334 |
| 75,000 | $289 | $254 | $419 | $369 |
| 100,000 | $329 | $290 | $459 | $404 |
Prices read from the subscriber slider on beehiiv.com/pricing, checked September 2026. Annual prices are billed once a year. Above 100,000 subscribers, Enterprise is quote-only.
The slider moves in steps: 1,000, 2,500, 5,000, 10,000, 25,000, 50,000, 75,000, then 100,000. Price is set per step, not per subscriber, so check where your list sits before you compare plans.
Cost per subscriber falls as you grow. Dividing the published prices, Scale works out to about 5 cents per subscriber at 1,000 subscribers and about a third of a cent at 100,000 (monthly billing). Small lists pay the highest rate per reader.

Annual billing takes about 12% off. On Scale at 1,000 subscribers, beehiiv shows a $71 yearly saving ($517 billed annually against $588 at the monthly rate). On Max the saving is $157 ($1,151 against $1,308).
Pay monthly until the plan has earned its keep. A 12% discount on a plan you drop in month four is not a discount.
What Does the Free Launch Plan Cover for Lead Capture and Deliverability?
Launch is free forever with no credit card and covers up to 2,500 subscribers, unlimited email sends, custom domains, subscribe forms, and access to the Recommendation Network, per beehiiv.com/pricing. Optimized deliverability is listed on every plan. A dedicated IP address is Enterprise only.
Lead capture is the first leak in a creator funnel. On Launch you can publish a newsletter, a website, and a podcast. You can capture emails with subscribe forms on your own domain. You can also be discovered through beehiiv’s Recommendation Network, where other newsletters recommend yours.

What Launch leaves out: the referral program, surveys, custom webpages, A/B testing, and email automations. All of them start at Scale, per beehiiv’s feature comparison.
The diagnostic take: under 2,500 subscribers, the free plan’s capture tools are enough to find out whether your list grows. If it is not growing, the leak is traffic or offer, not the tool. Paying for Scale to fix a traffic problem buys a bigger bucket for a slow tap.
Deliverability is the second leak. Beehiiv lists optimized deliverability and unlimited sends on every plan, including the free one. A dedicated IP address is Enterprise only, and beehiiv marks Enterprise deliverability reports as “coming soon.” For a solo list, the plan you buy is not what decides inbox placement. Your sending habits do. If open rates are sliding, start with how to improve your email open rate before you upgrade anything.
What Does Scale Add for Your Offer and Follow-Up?
Scale unlocks paid subscriptions, digital products, custom webpages, email automations, surveys, a referral program, A/B testing, and a community space, none of which are on Launch, per beehiiv.com/pricing. It also raises the team limit from 1 seat to up to 3.
Offer clarity is the third leak: can a visitor tell what they get for paying? On Launch, beehiiv cannot host custom webpages or sell digital products. On Scale it can, and it can also charge for paid subscriptions. That is the difference between “subscribe” as your only page and a real page that explains the offer.
Post-purchase follow-up is the fifth leak: what happens after someone signs up or pays? Scale adds email automations, so a welcome sequence can run without you. Most solo creators do not need a long nurture flow. Start with three emails, see what readers do, and add more only if the data says so. Click-triggered automations sit one tier higher, on Max.
Scale also adds a community space with discussions and group chats. That matters only if you plan to run one.
Read the fine print before you test Scale. The pricing page marks Ad Network, Recommendations, and the 0% take rate as not included in the free trial. It also marks Ad Network and Recommendations as not available in all regions. Do not judge the monetization tools from the trial alone.
Does the 0% Take Rate Change the Checkout Math?
On Scale and Max, beehiiv takes 0% of paid subscription revenue and you pay Stripe’s standard 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction, per beehiiv’s pricing FAQ. Substack takes 10% of paid subscription revenue, so a flat beehiiv fee is cheaper once monthly paid revenue passes about ten times your plan price.
Checkout friction is the fourth leak, and here cost and friction meet. Beehiiv charges a flat monthly fee by list size instead of a cut of what readers pay you. Substack charges nothing upfront and takes 10% of paid revenue, a figure beehiiv’s own pricing FAQ also cites, so check Substack’s current terms before you decide. Stripe’s processing fees apply on both platforms, so the table below leaves them out.
| List size | Scale, monthly price | Monthly paid revenue where Substack’s 10% costs the same |
|---|---|---|
| 1,000 | $49 | $490 |
| 2,500 | $69 | $690 |
| 5,000 | $89 | $890 |
| 10,000 | $109 | $1,090 |
| 25,000 | $169 | $1,690 |
Break-even is the Scale monthly price divided by 0.10, using monthly-billing prices from beehiiv.com/pricing. Annual billing lowers each figure.
Here is one hypothetical, not a benchmark. Say a 5,000-subscriber list has 250 readers paying $8 a month. That is $2,000 a month in paid revenue. Substack’s 10% comes to $200. Beehiiv Scale at that list size is $89. The gap is $111 a month, or $1,332 a year.

The catch: Launch has no paid subscriptions. The 0% take rate only exists once you pay for Scale, so it is worth nothing while no one is paying you. Below the break-even figure, Substack’s percentage is the cheaper bill. At that stage distribution matters more than fees, and the beehiiv vs Substack comparison covers that side.
Is Max Worth the Extra Cost Over Scale?
Max costs $60 more a month than Scale at 1,000 subscribers ($109 against $49) and $130 more at 100,000 ($459 against $329) on monthly billing, per beehiiv.com/pricing. Most of what it adds is control, not conversion.
Max adds the option to remove beehiiv branding, up to 10 publications (Scale allows 3), unlimited team seats (Scale allows up to 3), priority human support, dynamic content, the Send API, group subscriptions, audio newsletters, and click-triggered automations. Beehiiv’s own FAQ describes Max as the step up when a white-label experience, advanced features, and faster support matter.
For a solo creator, nearly all of that is control. The one feature that touches the funnel directly is click-triggered automations, which start a follow-up when a reader clicks a link. That is worth having once a basic welcome sequence is running and you know what readers click. Until then, Max pays for options you cannot use yet.
Which Beehiiv Plan Should You Choose?
Stay on Launch (free) if:
- Your list is under 2,500 subscribers and you are still finding out whether it grows
- You are not charging readers yet
- You want a custom domain, subscribe forms, and the Recommendation Network without paying
Move to Scale ($49/month and up) if:
- You are ready to sell paid subscriptions and your monthly paid revenue clears the break-even figure for your list size
- You need a welcome sequence or other automations
- You want a referral program, digital products, or custom webpages
Consider Max ($109/month and up) only if:
- You need to remove beehiiv branding
- You run more than three publications or need more than three people on the account
- You need the Send API or click-triggered automations
Skip beehiiv if:
- Your main offer is a course, coaching, or a digital product and the newsletter is a side channel. A tool built around checkout fits that shape better. See the Stan Store pricing breakdown.
- You need a general email tool with landing pages and sequences more than a newsletter home. Kit’s free plan covers up to 10,000 subscribers, per kit.com/pricing, and the ConvertKit alternatives roundup shows where each option trades off.
- You have not decided what the paid offer is. The platform is not your bottleneck. Start free, grow the list, then set the price.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is beehiiv free?
Yes. The Launch plan is free forever with no credit card, covers up to 2,500 subscribers, and includes unlimited email sends, per beehiiv.com/pricing. Paid subscriptions, automations, and the referral program are not on Launch. Those start with Scale at $49 a month.
How much does beehiiv cost per month?
It depends on plan and list size. On monthly billing, Scale runs from $49 at 1,000 subscribers to $329 at 100,000. Max runs from $109 to $459 across the same range. Annual billing lowers each price by roughly 12%. Above 100,000 subscribers, Enterprise is quote-only.
Does beehiiv take a cut of paid subscriptions?
Not on Scale or Max. Beehiiv takes 0% of paid subscription revenue, and you pay Stripe’s standard 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction, per beehiiv.com/pricing. Launch does not include paid subscriptions, so the 0% rate applies only after you upgrade.
Does beehiiv charge extra for email sends?
No. Every plan, including free Launch, includes unlimited email sends, per beehiiv’s pricing FAQ. Your bill changes with plan and subscriber count, not with how often you send.
Is beehiiv annual billing worth it?
It saves roughly 12%, for example $71 a year on Scale at 1,000 subscribers. It is worth it once paid subscriptions or automations are earning their cost. Before that, monthly billing keeps your commitment short.
